Water Sports programme for ETCC

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), has today launched a water sports programme for the children at the Education and Training Centre for Children (ETCC), Maafushi. The programme offers the children the opportunity to learn and enjoy windsurfing, sailing, beach games, wake board, water ski, banana and fun tubes.

The 4 day programme is being conducted, in partnership with the Club Aeolous Waters Sports, Club Faru Resort, and will consist of theory, practical lessons and an exam. A total of 37 children, from ages eight to eighteen, will take part in this programme.

ARC believes that sports is not only a fun activity that promotes healthy, active lifestyles, but also provides a meaningful medium through which the children could learn about teamwork, discover their individual skills and talents, as well as promote self-esteem and confidence. ARC also hopes that this programme can help find a base for a future vocation for children who have the interest and skills.
