As part of Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC)’s annual holiday programme for shelters, the children of Kudakudhinge Hiya have participated in the fun and educational Kool Kamp organized by the Leadership Academy, from 29th November to 4th December 2015. A total of 74 children between the ages of 5 and 14 years participated in this camp.

The annual Kool Kamp gives the children of Kudakudhinge Hiya the opportunity to have a fun experience and spend time with children from schools across the capital, as well as learn important life skills through this programme.

ARC notes with appreciation, the generous donations received from the public towards ARC’s Shelter Support Programme, which facilitated the children’s participation in the Kool Kamp. ARC also expresses sincere thanks to the management and staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya, for their continued cooperation to ensure the success of all programmes conducted at the shelter.

ARC organizes a variety of educational, fun and recreational programmes for children in shelters, as well as capacity building trainings for the child care workers at the shelter every year. ARC looks forward to continue working closely with the community in helping make a positive difference in the lives of children in shelters.
