Speech & Hearing Camp for children with disabilities in H. Dh Atoll by ARC and Beautiful Eyes Down Syndrome Association

Speech & Hearing Camp

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) in partnership with Beautiful Eyes Down Syndrome Association has held a Speech and Hearing Camp for children with disabilities in Hdh Atoll from 16 to 20 November 2022.
During this camp, an international speech therapist provided free consultations, diagnosis, individual assessments and audiometric tests for over 90 children with speech and hearing impairments at Hdh.Nolhivaranfaru, Nolhivaram and Kulhudhuffushi City.

The speech therapist also conducted a 2-day workshop in both Nolhivaranfaru and Kulhudhuffushi for over 70 Special Education Needs teachers and foundation stage teachers from Nolhivaramfaru School, Nolhivaram School, H.Dh Atoll Education Center, Afeeffudin School, and Jalaaluddin School in Kulhudhuffushi City. The sessions targeted for teachers working with students with special needs focused on ‘improving articulation and speech’, ‘minimizing communication challenges’ as well as other useful intervention tips that can be practiced in a classroom setup.
