Projects signed at the ARC Stakeholder Conference on Children's Shelters 2012 commences

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), in partnership with the Maldivian Nurses Association, commenced an Early Childcare training programme for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya, Vilimale, today.

This training Programme covers a range of topics from general hygiene, baby bath and baby care, infant and complementary feeding, as well as treating minor ailments, safety needs and stimulation and play needs of infants and toddlers. A total of 19 staff members are participating in this programme, scheduled to end on 19 February 2012.

A similar programme was also organized for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya in 2011 by ARC and its success in helping improve the quality of care received by the children encouraged ARC to organize this training for a second year.

ARC recognizes Early Childcare Training as vital for caregivers at the shelter, to provide them with essential skills and knowledge required to look after the children in a caring and safe environment.

This is the first of a series of programmes organized by ARC, to commence following the commitments received at the signing ceremony of ARC Stakeholder Conference on Children's Shelters, held on 29 January 2012.
