To celebrate International Children’s Day, Kurumba Maldives organized a special breakfast for children residing at Kudakudhinge Hiya, Villingili. The event was held on June 1 at Kurumba Maldives, where the children got to enjoy an evening of delicious treats, including classic dishes from international cuisines, such as Indian and Middle-Eastern, and a fun quiz.
Kurumba Maldives have been celebrating the day with Children at Kudakudhinge Hiya in the past, organizing similar events in the previous few years and ARC applauds Kurumba Maldives for their effort in making this day a special one for some of the most marginalized children in the country.
International Children’s Day is celebrated annually to promote togetherness, awareness among children and to improve children’s wellbeing. It is a reminder to us all to promote and advocate for children’s rights by taking actions and speaking out for them.
Kurumba Maldives is a “Champion of Child Rights in the Maldives”, highest level of commitment to promote and protect child rights in the Maldives under ARC’s Corporate Ambassadorship Programme. Under collaboration with Kurumba Maldives for 2017 and 2018, ARC has already concluded Positive Parenting Training Programme and Workshop on Best Practices to Effectively Teach Students with Special Needs at Fiyavathi in Hulhumale. Two other projects for the children to encourage physical fitness and develop their skills and creativity are being conducted at Kudakudhinge Hiya in Villingili. The previous year’s partnership between Kurumba Maldives and ARC focused on the ‘Early Childcare Play and Development Programme’ to help develop children’s educational, social and problem-solving skills acquired through play.
As a non-profit organization, ARC relies on generous contributions from our partners such as Kurumba Maldives, which helps ARC in expanding its work with children’s shelters, advocacy efforts, and nationwide awareness campaigns on child rights. And hence ARC appreciates the continuous effort by Kurumba Maldives in helping create happy memories for children at shelters, and for supporting ARC’s efforts to enhance their lives.
