HEAL Campaign awareness sessions for children and their parents and teacher training workshops were conducted in lhaviyani Naifaru and six islands in the Haa Alif Atoll, namely; Ihavandhoo, Maarandhoo, Thakandhoo, Dhidhoo, Kelaa and Baarah.

ARC’s Senior Nutrition Consultant and Project Manager visited the island of Naifaru from 29-31st January 2014 and Haa Alif Atoll from 17th-25th February 2014. The interactive, child friendly  sessions encouraged children to choose healthier food and drink options and get them involved in physically active lifestyles. The parents’ sessions reinforced these messages by providing tips on how to get children to eat more healthy and explaining the importance of physical activity for children’s growth and development. The workshops for teachers introduced activities that can be used in the classrooms to promote healthy eating and active lifestyles for children.

ARC wishes to thank NGO Juvenile Naifaru and Ihavandhoo and Dhidhoo Police Station for the opportunity to conduct the sessions in collaboration with them.
