ARC in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Maldives, has held the closing ceremony of the “Early Childhood, Play and Development Programme” for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya, today.
At the ceremony held at the Embassy of China, H. E. Mr Wang Fukang, Ambassador of China to the Maldives distributed certificates to the 15 participants who completed the training programme at Kudakudhinge Hiya from April to May 2014. The training was conducted by ARC’s Early Childhood consultant, who also worked with the care workers from June to December 2014, to supervise and monitor the implementation of the training and assess its progress.
The Early Childhood Play and Development Programme focused on training childcare workers to incorporate play activities into the daily routine of children at the shelter, taking into account the importance of play in the education and development of children. Speaking at the event, ARC’s Managing Director Ms. Hawla Ahmed Didi noted that “children in shelters also deserve the same opportunities as other children, to have an enjoyable and fulfilling childhood”. Ambassador Wang Fukang also highlighted the importance of educating children through play, from an early age.
ARC wishes to express sincere appreciation to the Ambassador and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, whose generous financial assistance made this initiative a possibility, and for their support for our children.
