The closing ceremony of the Medical First Responders Training for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya organized by ARC and conducted by the Maldives National Defence Force, was held this evening at Kudakudhinge Hiya. Chief Guest Minister of Law and Gender, Attorney General Uz. Mohamed Anil and the MNDF Commander of Male’ Area, Brigadier General Ali Zuhair distributed the certificates to the participants of the training which was held at the Sena Hiya Auditorium in Male’ from 17to 27August 2014 .
A total of 24 staff participated in this training that focused on key areas that are crucial for the immediate initial response to an incident including General first aid and psychological first aid, how to treat asthma & severe allergic reactions, poisoning and low blood sugar, fainting and seizures, stings and bites, as well as eye injuries and muscular skeletal injuries. Other areas covered under this programme included introductions to the respiratory and circulatory systems, resuscitation techniques, and how to treat scalds and burns, wounds, bleeding and shock, as well as lifting and shifting casualty, amongst other medical emergencies. The training was conducted by Lance Corporal Dr Mohamed Ziyaau from MNDF Medical Service.
ARC believes that well – trained staff equipped with the skills to react quickly and safely in emergency situations is paramount for the safety and well being of children in shelters and wishes to express sincere appreciation to MNDF for conducting the programme. A total of 76 children ranging from ages 0 – 18 currently live at Kudakudhinge Hiya.
