ARC’s team has won the National Badminton Tournament for the fifth consecutive year. At the 43rd National Badminton Tournament that took place from 22 to 26 November 2016, ARC was represented by Zayan Shaheed Zaki, Mohamed Nashfaan, Nasheeu Sharafuddeen, Ali Sharmeel and Ibrahim Rashihu Adam. The ARC team competed against Maziya Sports and Recreation Club and Police Club in the Men’s Team Event Category.
As in previous years, throughout this tournament, ARC’s team helped raise awareness against child abuse through ARC’s HOPE Campaign. The HOPE Campaign, launched in 2010, focuses on educating children, parents and teachers, as well as the general public on ways to prevent child abuse, to empower children against abuse, to recognize signs of abuse and to provide support to victims of abuse.
ARC wishes to express sincere appreciation to the Badminton Association of Maldives for providing this platform to raise public awareness. ARC would also like to thank the players for their commitment and enthusiasm in promoting and protecting the rights of children in the Maldives and their contribution of the prize money to ARC in support of child abuse prevention.
