ARC organizes Kitchen Training Programme for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has organized two kitchen training programmes for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya, Vilimale. The first programme was held from 11 October to 3 November and covered a range of topics, including hygiene and habits in the kitchen, handling raw food, stocking and storing food items and chilling hot food. Four staff members took part in this programme.

The second programme, conducted by the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies was held from 23 to 24 November. The topics covered in this programme included nutrition, safe purchasing, receiving and storage of food, safe preparation, cooking and serving, and sanitary facilities and equipment.

Training programmes such as these are vital for the staff of Kudakudhinge Hiya, to acquire the essential skills necessary for safe and hygienic preparation of nutritius food for the children. It is also one of several such training programmes organized by ARC for the shelter.
