Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) partnered with the Maldivian Nurses Association to provide an Early Childcare Training for the staff at Kudakudhinge Hiya, Villingili, from 10 February to 07 March 2011. The training program, conducted at Kudakudhinge Hiya by the Maldivian Nurses Association, was funded by Mrs Moomina Haleem, the first qualified nurse and midwife in the Maldives.
ARC recognizes Early Childcare Training as imperative and vital for caregivers at the shelter. Such programs provide the essential skills and knowledge required for the staff to look after the children in a caring and safe environment.
The Early Childcare Training Program covered a range of topics from general hygiene, baby bath and baby care, infant and complementary feeding, as well as treating minor ailments, safety needs and stimulation and play needs of infants and toddlers.
20 staff members of Kudakudhinge Hiya who participated in this training program, were certified last night in a ceremony held at Kudakudhinge Hiya.
ARC is a non-governmental organization dedicated to protecting and promoting the rights and well-being of children in the Maldives.
