Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has launched the website for its GRACE Campaign and two awareness video clips on girls’ empowerment, in partnership with the British High Commission. The website and video clips were launched by the Chief Guest, H.E. Mr. James Dauris, British High Commissioner to the Maldives, at a special event held today at Marble Hotel. Officials from the British High Commission, heads of schools, ARC’s corporate ambassadors and students also attended this event.

Speaking at the event, ARC’s Managing Director, Ms. Hawla Ahmed Didi expressed hope that the GRACE Campaign will contribute towards developing a new generation of girls who are more resilient in overcoming the unique challenges faced by girls and women in our society; who have aspirations to reach decision making levels or explore new fields; who are capable of succeeding in today’s competitive job market; and most of all who are empowered to make decisions that can transform their family, community and country.

The GRACE Campaign website aims to provide easy access to useful information on areas covered by the awareness campaign, including information to help students make informed educational decisions and smart career choices. The video clips launched today provide practical tips for young adults on preparing their CVs, as well as key information on where to look for scholarship and job opportunities.

As part of the GRACE Campaign, ARC has been conducting interactive sessions for students of grades 9 to 12 and awareness sessions for parents. In this regard, in partnership with the British High Commission, ARC has reached 695 students and 276 parents from  Dhaalu, Gnaviyani, Seenu and Haa Alif Atolls, as well as from selected schools in Male’. Through this partnership, ARC also launched a series of audio and video clips last year, targeted for students, parents and the general public, to promote higher education and the empowerment of girls. ARC therefore takes this opportunity to thank the British High Commission for its support to the GRACE Campaign and generous contribution towards advancing the rights of girls and women in the Maldives.
