Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), has today launched a sports programme for children at
Kudakudhinge Hiya, Vilimale. The programme offers the children the opportunity to play badminton,
table tennis and football and learn from trained coaches.
The badminton programme commences today, in partnership with the Badminton Association of
Maldives. A total of 29 children, from ages six and above, will take part in the badminton programme, to
be held everyday, including weekends.
Similar programmes for both table tennis and football are also scheduled to commence shortly, and will
be organized in partnership with the Table Tennis Association of Maldives and Early Touch Football
Academy, respectively.
ARC believes that sports is not only a fun activity that promotes healthy, active lifestyles, but also
provides a meaningful medium through which the children could learn about teamwork, discover their
individual skills and talents, as well as promote self-esteem and confidence.
