ARC launches HEAL campaign, promoting Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles for Children

Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has launched a large-scale campaign to promote Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles for children.

The goal of this campaign is to raise health and nutrition awareness amongst children, parents and teachers and encourage children to choose healthier food and drink options and get them involved in physically active lifestyles.

The HEAL Campaign promotes the following 5 key messages, endorsed by the Centre for Community Health and Disease Control(CCHDC):
?_ Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits everyday
?_ Drink water instead of sugary juices, coffee, fizzy and energy drinks
?_ Eat less processed food
?_ Snack on healthy foods
?_ Turn off the screens and do something physically active every day

The HEAL programme for pre-schools commences today, with information sessions for parents at local pre-schools in Male䋢, Hulhumale䋢 and Villingili islands, designed to help put preschoolers on the track to a healthier life from early childhood

The information sessions are being conducted by visiting nutritionists from New Zealand, Ms.Phoebe Cleland, Public Health Nutritionist and Ms.Esther Sangkop, Nutrition Consultant.
