Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC), in partnership with Team from Mars Football Club (TFM FC) and Meemu Atoll Police, has conducted awareness sessions in Meemu atoll, from 16 to 25 March 2016. As the social partner for the Islander’s Futsal Challenge 2016, ARC conducted awareness sessions for students and parents, and workshops for teachers on child abuse prevention, in Dhiggaru, Maduvvaree, Raiymandhoo, Mulah, Veyvah, Naalaafushi, Muli and Kolhufushi. During this period, ARC also carried out awareness sessions on healthy eating and active lifestyles for students and parents of Dhiggaru, Mulah and Muli.

ARC wishes to express sincere appreciation to TFM FC, for the opportunity to reach out to all islands of Meemu atoll as a social partner in this event. ARC takes this opportunity to thank Meemu Atoll Police and respective island councils for the excellent arrangements and hospitality provided throughout this trip. ARC would also like to note with gratitude, the support and cooperation received from all schools and the communities throughout the awareness sessions.

ARC is pleased to highlight that this is the first time in which a whole atoll has been covered through our awareness programmes. As a non-profit organization, ARC relies on the support from the community and look forward to working with grass roots organizations and island level authorities to promote and protect the rights of children in the Maldives.
