Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) has conducted HOPE Campaign awareness sessions on child abuse prevention in all islands of AlifuAlifu Atoll, to empower children to recognize, respond and report child abuse and neglect.
More than 590 students studying in Grades 4 to 8 in AA. Mathiveri, Maalhos, Feridhoo, Himandhoo, Bodufulhadhoo, Ukulhas, Rasdhoo and Thoddooparticipated in the awareness sessions held between June and November this year, in partnership with Dhiraagu, UNICEF Maldives & Ministry of Gender, Family & Social Services.
HOPE Campaign was launched by ARC in 2010, to combat all forms of violence against childrenand includes awareness sessions for children and parents as well as workshops for teachers.HOPE Campaign sessions have been conducted in HaaAlif Atoll, HaaDhaalu Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll, Baa Atoll, Dhaalu Atoll, GaafuAlifu Atoll and Fuvahmulah City, in addition to all islands of Kaafu Atoll, Vaavu Atoll, Meemu Atoll, Faafu Atoll, Laamu Atoll and GaafuDhaalu Atoll, to date.
